Well written, fast paced and wild autobiographical account of one woman's journey towards becoming a volunteer EMS, eventually serving NYC's tragically ill during the Covid epicenter, and eventually becoming ill with the virus herself. Compelling, brave, vulnerable, witty, with dark humor and hard won wisdom, this is an insightful first person account into the workings of NYC's EMT, FDNY & NYPD, by turns hilarious and heartbreaking. Jennifer Murphy is a wonderful writer and a remarkable human. I couldn't put this book down. I never write reviews, but just had to alert everyone to this treasure of a book which will no doubt remain a landmark story of these difficult days. A contemporary classic of non-fiction.
