This book was required for my course. The fourth Ed. is out dated, the 5th edition apparently had an excess of information, but this one? This one sucks. The text is fine, the chapters are boring and the lack of variety in fonts or colors makes it boring to look at. The important information is buried in this book. I have to read through these chapters like I’m combing out the only flea on the entire planet earth before I find the information I’m looking for. There’s no question keys without instructor access, I don’t have that, I seriously doubt my instructor does. How am I supposed to learn? If I go to look up the answers in the text it will take me well over 20 minutes a piece to locate the eensy weensy nugget disguised in a figure description from whence the question was derived. There’s no glossary. Fine, I get it, it’s college; there is also no clear definition of terms within the text. The terms considered important to the chapter are merely italicized but their relevance or meaning is usually omitted. Sure there’s a glossary on elsevier according to the book, so that should make up for it. EXCEPT that elseviers glossary DOES NOT work. Seriously you could click on it all day and it won’t open. Garbage. The glossary indiscretions are rough but I can forgive that so long as I’ve got an index to search for my own answers in the given text. Guess what. Go ahead, guess. Yeah, that’s right, there’s no index either. Who would have ever guessed? Basically this book is skimping on essential elements that make it a poor resource for quick use. I don’t care if my book is 80 pages thicker and 2lbs more, as long as it’s actually useful. Yeah, I’m angry.
